Here in Brownsville, Tx we have 3 shelters for all these people they are Friendship of woman, Bishop Enrique San Pedro Ozanam, and Good Neighborhood Settlement House listed below I have provided information where you can go ahead and find these places if anyone is in need of a place to stay.

  • Friendship of Woman

    Phone number: 956-544-7412

Address: 95 E Price Road Brownsville, TX 78521

  • Bishop Enrique San Pedro Ozanam

    Phone number: 956-831-6331

     Address: 656 N. Minnesota Brownsville, TX 78521

  • Good Neighborhood Settlement House

    Phone number: 956-542-2368

Address: 1254 E. Tylor St Brownsville, TX 78520

So how can we help these shelters and most importantly these people that are in difficult situations at the moment? We can always get informed about each shelter and how they work upon these people. Another way we can go ahead and support our community is by making small donations to organizations such as United way, and Youth Homeless Fund and more. With only $1.00 can make a huge difference for these loving people who are suffering. As a way of helping our community shelters, we can always donate clothes, shoes we do not need anymore, giving out food, canned food, and most importantly we can donate hygiene equipment such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, small bottles of shampoos this could make such a difference in the community.

AWARENESS

Many of homeless in our community shelter suffer from addiction it is approximately about 15% that these people suffer from these problems. Several of these people tend to get addicted to numb off the pain of living on the streets. This is a way of them leaving their problems aside. To help these people we can go ahead and form fundraisers to get these people help like therapy and just address their mental illness to always let them know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

PERSONAL EXPIERENCE

As a fellow helper I have donated many clothes and food to the Good Neighborhood Settlement House this has made me believe that there are still good people that want to be involved in helping our community out by keeping our streets safe and keeping this vulnerable people safe and getting their full nutrients. Last winter me and my family donated a hot plate of tamales, rice, and beans. We gave these people a fresh meal to celebrate the holidays and fulfill their heart that they can get out of their situation with a bit of help from their own community.

Hi Paloma, thank you for everything you. ’ve done to give back to your community. I don’t travel to Brownsville often, so I had never heard of these organizations before. I would love to learn how to donate to them.

Hey Paloma, your blog post about assisting the homeless in our neighborhood was greatly appreciated. Your list of practical ways we can help local shelters and those in need, such as providing food, clothing, and personal hygiene products, is encouraging. Your own story of giving food during the holidays adds a really touching touch and demonstrates how even modest deeds of kindness can have a significant impact on someone's life. Additionally, you've done a fantastic job of bringing attention to the often-overlooked problems of addiction among the homeless.

Hi i like how you gave businesses or organizations that help out the homeless. This is such a thoughtful post and i like how your showing the homeless some recognition. I feel like people see it as a normal thing now but things need to be changed and the homeless need to be helped out more.
